Memphis site is distinguished by housing the Memphis Museum, displaying the statue of Queen Hatshepsut, the second largest statue of the Sphinx after the one on the Giza plateau, and the great statue of King Ramesses II. This statue of Ramesses II was discovered beside the statue of King Ramesses II, exhibited now in The Grand Egyptian Museum.

 

4. The Red Pyramid of Dahshur

The Red and Bent Pyramids are about 2 km south of the Mastaba Faraoun. The constructor of these pyramids is considered to have been Snofru (2575 – 2551 BC), the first ruler of the 4th Dynasty. Snofru built these two pyramids and is thought to have made the pyramid at Maiden. His son was Cheops who continued his constructive tendencies.

 

5. The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities

The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities was established in 1902 near the city center of Cairo. On display is a rare collection of 5,000 years of art, the world’s largest and most precious collection of Egyptian art. Over 250,000 genuine artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to the Tutankhamun collection of treasures, Gold, and Jewelry, as was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years. It was discovered in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated.

 

6. The Citadel of Saladin

The Citadel was built by Salah-El-Din in the 12th Century and was the seat of power for the following 700 years. On the premises is the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali, one of the landmarks of Cairo whose minaret can be seen from any part of the city. The Mohammed Ali mosque was built in Turkish style and is very similar to the Blue Mosque in Turkey.

 
7. Old Coptic Cairo

Coptic Cairo is home to some of the oldest Christian churches in the world and retraces the steps where Mary and Joseph walked thousands of years ago. The Hanging Church, also known as El Muallaqa, was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was believed to have been built at the end of the 3rd century, Built on the outer wall you will see the Greek Church of St. George.
The Church of St. Sergius is a perfect example of a Coptic church and monastery. It was founded at the end of the 4th century and it stands on a crypt that is said to have sheltered the holy family during their flight from Egypt. St. Barbara’s Church was built between the 4th and 5th centuries. It has preserved the ruins of Saint John.

 
8. Pharaonic Village

There is a Museum on the premises that displays a real-life replica of Tutankhamun’s tomb with the Sarcophagus, his treasures, gold, and jewelry, as it was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years until its discovery in the 1920s. It is an excellent place to visit particularly for families with children.
